I wouldn't say a rise in the commodity prices has a negative impact on the share price but if you look at the longer term chart of the platinum and palladium prices, the overnight rise you're talking about is a rounding error. If the commodity prices had a sustained upward trend over the long term, then I would expect a long term positive impact on the share price (all else equal).
