For a topical stock look at Acrux (ACR), that fell from $1.60 to one stage 38 cents, where the fundamentals had not changed. It turned out that there was fund manager which had a change of policy and was continually selling down their holding.
They pushed the price right down and as the buyers were aware of this, few were buying.
When the balance of the holding was eventually bought by another insto, it did not immediately leap in price. And then when it did start to climb it continued to climb until where it is yesterday, about 2 years later, $3.40.
So being an insto does make them smart and sometimes they provide huge opportunities for us.
And every inch of this journey we will be presented with opportunities. We just have to learn to grasp them.
