In my opinion the seeds for inflation are multiple and appeared at various times in history.
One of seeds of inflation is clearly the setting up of the supply chain as Just in time.
It would’ve been very obvious that any disruption to supply, which happens for a variety of reasons all through history, must end up in shortages, and hence, must end up in large price rises.
And if the disruption to Supplies is large and global and goes on for while, and you must end up with runaway inflation.
One thing that we know about in inflation is that once it is out of the box, it is very difficult to get back into the box.
As to the Just in time crazy idea, look at the shortage of saline IV fluids in Australia at the moment.
How ridiculous is it that we can’t even have reliable supply of salt water in plastic bags
how hard is it?
