In open terrain and while on the move, Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region are vulnerable and have lost a significant amount of armored equipment, according to Forbes.

Forbes fully corroborates previous analysis regarding the accounting of the "Kursk adventure" and the unfavorable dynamics for Ukraine.

The publication states that the rapid advance has cost the Ukrainian invasion corps, consisting of about half a dozen brigades and several separate battalions along with support units, a considerable amount of valuable armored vehicles, while "Russian forces have lost only a few vehicles."

The ratio of equipment lossesis striking, with a large number of Ukrainian losses compared to a relatively small number on the Russian side.

On average, over the 905 days of large-scale war, Russian forces lose nearly four tanks and almost eight infantry fighting vehicles per day, according to current counts by Oryx analysts. Ukrainian forces, on the other hand, lose an average of just one tank and three infantry vehicles daily.

However, according to Oryx's analysis, in the first nine days of the invasion, Ukrainians lost four tanks and 41 infantry vehicles, including a rare British Challenger 2 tank and several American-supplied Stryker combat vehicles.

"The attrition of infantry vehicles—including tracked fighting vehicles and wheeled personnel carriers—has been especially acute for the Ukrainian armed forces. They’re losing these valuable vehicles at almost double the normal rate. And where the average loss rate is for the entire 700-mile front of the wider war, those losses in Kursk are occurring along a 50-mile front."

Forbes notes that "the loss of so much valuable equipment may not worry Ukrainian planners—provided, of course, the strategic gains of the Kursk campaign justify the material cost."

Even in the West, questions are being raised about whether the Kursk operation is worth the effort ‍♂️
