what does the Indonesia agreement really mean?

Marles and Albanese gushing with overblown rhetoric were quite undermined by Probowo's taciturn response.

the Aus PM talked about the significance of strengthening military ties with Indonesia, which I personally agree is very important for our national security, including co-operation and information sharing. the emphasis on this might mean better engagement by Indonesian patrols with boats departing for Aus with people wanting to stay here. even if its like the 5 boat loads camping up in the mangroves of far north WA.

    but Prabowo has other ideas:

Mr Prabowo suggested Australian investment in South-East Asia and Indonesia was still lagging, and declared he wanted to see stronger ties between the two nations.

"We would like to see more Australian participation in our economy," he said.

"We would also like to see closer collaboration and consultation on various fields [so] … that we can achieve outcomes that respect both our economic interests, both our national interests."

    worth reading LOMI.

maybe this suggests they need capital to build proper mines in Indonesia instead of using unregulated and extremely dangerous mining and processing methods.

    thoughts?
