    I agree that defence is essential, but these subs are not imo.

    but I take your point wrt interoperability with US/UK. that part of the deal is not in question.

    but I'm not referring to any possible offensive actions that such subs might be engaged in. I'm only concerned with defence of the nation.

    theres a hellova hullaballoo over this highly contentious deal. and I'm only an ignorant guy, never worked in military matters. all I put forward is imo. but nuclear weapons become the necessary sequel to the nuke subs. Why do we need nuclear weapons? are we thinking we are going to join in a war where a few nuclear missiles will help protect us from invasion? I don't think so.

    the more weaponry we have, the more we become a target for obliteration in the event of a major conflict. a source of destruction for any aggressor, so we would then become a country to be neutralised first.
