@pow4ade I have been watching these struggles for most of my adult life. I am from a German-speaking background, have tried to understand what my compatriots did to people, I also knew when growing up. My first boyfriend had a Jewish mother who survived in country Austria by claiming she was Palestinian (what a joke this is nowadays!!) - she had the exotic good looks of a gypsy dancer (my b.f. was good-looking in the same way) - I still cannot now understand how a people (my people) had become so oblivious to the suffering going on around them, except to say, by the time Jews were actually killed, there was full-on war and communications were not as instant as they are nowadays - everyone, civil society and soldiers were in survival mode - my mother told me that pretty early on people knew this would not end well and simply hunkered down and tried to cope as best they could.
No excuse, though!

I was, still am, determined to support the jews, love the jews, support restitution of any kind - but what has been going on in Israel has little to do with the Jewish past.
It is Western expansionism, a take-over of the role of the former British Empire by the Americans. They need a base in the Middle East and Israel became that, so the major power in the West support Israel - totally, including supplying weapons to a corrupt regime.
The ordinary citizen of Israel is pretty fed-up by now with Netanjahu, they also realise that most of the hostages are probably dead now - I know, have a dear friend who lives there and I get some hints, some communication from her at times. I also have Jewish friends here, who express similar views, although they all fear for the existence of Israel, none like the Palestinians.

The Americans have to be convinced that the better policy would be more humanity towards the people of Gaza, towards Palestinians - what is on show is nothing short of genocide of all Gazans, all Palestinians. It cannot be thought right, just because it is committed by a section of Israelis who think because of the Holocaust - and in this particular case because of 7th October 1923 - they have the freedom to visit the same fate on people around them and retaliate by this annihilation and endless suffering, maiming and killing of children and women, we see daily on our TV screens.

This situation is not just about Jews and prejudice etc., it is about stopping WWIII.
Think about it please!
