Today's ABC is actually run by a co-operative of staff and social sheriffs. I would suspect Lisa, Ita and David have had a gutful of pandering to hurt feelings and abstract human fads without the relief that could be found in a sensible Minister's office => found themselves surrounded by the weak and special needs.....soul destroying.
