Oil and gas discoveries of the 1970/1980's stared to generate massive unparalleled income to Russia in late 1990/2000 as Putin grabbed power igniting imperial sentiment and started the second war against Chechnya by bombing Moscow apartments. Blinded by the massive income, Putin killed democracy, engineered a 50/50 wealth sharing scheme with oligarchs and FSB/KGB to become the wealthiest man on earth.

Oligarchs ruthlessly exploited the rural ethnic regions bribing local officials and pumped rural wealth to Moscow and St Petersburg leaving the rural regions poor without running water and toilets. Wealthiest Oligarch Khodorkovsky refused the 50/50 plan and spent 10 years in jail later revealed all that from the west. Russia would have become one of the wealthiest nations on earth if not for Putin's greediness and hunger for power and the region would have being democratic and peaceful.
