A few here don't seem to understand that Inflation in local currency has no impact on capital costs when those capital costs are paid with USD, not Kwanza.
Capital costs can double in Kwanza but they do not rise in USD terms. All the down ramping in the world won't change that.
What about affordability for Angolans?
Angola is currently a net importer of food. When you have high inflation, the cost of food increases rapidly.
The choice is to pay increasing prices for imported food or grow your own.
They will still need to pay increasing prices for fertilser but fertiliser obviously makes up only a fraction of the cost of crops.
With high inflation, is Angola better off paying $1,000 to import a certain amount of grain, or paying maybe $100 for fertiliser to grow the same quantity of their own grain?
