If it has only been possible to recover about 40% of the fractured fluid so far, my feeling is the coals and the Black Creek sands (if stimulated) are unable to contribute to flow alongside the Lorelle and Kianga flow during commingled flow. Basically, the coals and Black Creek have permeabilities in the range 0.5, 1.0 to 6 micro Darcy, whereas the Kianga has 160 micro Darcy and for the Lorelle my estimate based on very limited data is in the range 0.25 mD to 1.5 mD. So, the issue is likely to be that the coals especially are unable to flow because the higher perm reservoirs have priority (higher flow potential) during commingled flow. Due to competition with the Lorelle, a different well completion concept will need to be implemented in future production wells (in my opinion) e.g. application of inflow control devices (ICDs), or separate multi stage fracced wells for the three coals layers.
