As at today the 300th largest company by MC is COB, at $675m.
BRN's market cap today is $324m. That's significantly off the top 300.
As @Lies&Damnlies stated, liquidity is the only criteria that could save BRN from being removed from the ASX300 at the next rebalance IMO. It may be retained in the ASX300, or may not be.
If BRN was to be removed from the ASX300, the shorts will eventually reduce as index funds will own less shares to loan out to shorts.
