Just pay with cash if you want to avoid the surcharges.
I’m using more cash now than I have for a long time.
Paying a surcharge is the price you pay when you are too lazy to draw some cash every now and then. The only complaint I have is the lack of bank branches and bank owned ATMs these days to get you cash. Bank owned ATMs seem to have been replaced with private ones that charge a fee to do a transaction.
Still, it’s nothing that can’t be overcome with a little planning.
