Ukraine took forces away from the main area Russia is attacking. Ukraine have been in retreat for a long while in that same area. That tells me Ukraine don't see the area as crucial as others do. But sure average, you go with your "insiders".
Regardless, Ukraine have liberated more land than Russia has captured this year. The amount of land taken being the only measure of success the pro war pro Putin side can claim and even on that they're losing.
