I'm paraphrasing here, but when our hub was created Fred Kish explained that the reason it has so few members is because of how difficult it is to replicate some of the processes. Another company could use the same equipment, same materials, same procedures and achieve different results. Essentially, the slightest change in an environment can lead to undesirable effects. Jim was honest enough in the interview to bring up some issues they had run into, and anticipated "easier predictability" down the line; I take that to mean more consistent/predictable results once the issues are ironed out, or machinery is upgraded.
I didn't say it was easy and I am not downplaying how difficult a task BLG are undertaking; using a car as an example is meant to be a more relatable piece of machinery to the layman compared to a planetary reactor or cleaver etc. Not a direct, humm... comparison.
