Both Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia are independent republics.

Fighting against separatists on your own territory does not constitute expansionism. Unless you want to suggest, that the Ukrainian government, in it's efforts to counter the separatists in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, were also practicing Ukrainian expansionism.

Dudaev - a separatist leader. As were the leaders of DPR and LPR, when the Ukrainian government initiated an Anti Terrorist Operation, trying to neutralize the separatists.
Nemtsov - Created an "opposition" party, that was funded by...? Nobody knows how exactly. Maria Giadar, one of the senior members of that party, later admitted that she was financed by the NED. Which is a front for the CIA
