Being an avid lover of his equine athletes, Peters also sees the opportunity for applying Optiscan’s technology in the animal world, not only for veterinary therapies, but also for reproductive assistance – particularly in cattle, sheep and pigs. Accordingly, the company has also put out its shingle to attract other partnerships that may involve the imaging technology being used in the “large” animal market.
After recently revealing its InVue imaging device for microscopic precision surgery and a collaboration with the well-regarded Mayo Clinic to develop its technology for robotic surgery, Optiscan is riding high in the share market, up more than 100 per cent since the beginning of June.
Now that the company has entered an addressable market for companion animals, one which could eventually even challenge the human market for size, it may just be on the cusp of delivering something particularly special for both people and their pets.
