everyone is learning in the EFS

hilcorp have had downhole issues in many of the wells, but so have many of the operators. EOG have had many burst pipe issues with the frac, just as hilcorp have. hilcorp have done an outstanding job of understanding the EFS, and with kowalik now on its second completion, and with a burst pipe. you have to question why they are getting issues like that when its clearly understood what the dangers are when completing wells with a grade of steel of your own choice. it takes no science to understand what a consequence inferior grade of steel can do in a well. you may get away with things for a while, but at some stage things can go awry and it costs a bomb to fix.. i am not saying of hilcorp what you are implying, but i am saying that what you read, what you hear, and what is actually happening on the ground are often not explained in detail, and sometimes you make the right call, sometimes it comes back and bites you with a vengeance..

there has been a long history of frac problems experienced by many of the operators, and much of it can be attributed to the type of product used in the completions.

fracs are not all going flawlessly with hilcorp, they have many many problems, so do all the other operators, but gradually there is better practices and methods are are being learned. each well completion and frac is a prototype for the next one in a lot of ways, they all give better pictures and deliver more understandings for the frac engineers.

I know that TXN have an awareness of not only the the causes of many of the frac failures, and from what i understand they are not working to imitate the same mistakes made over and over through out. they have employed excellent frac engineers and i am very certain they are not just imitating other designs but imho they are also trying to improve on them.

does that make TXN better or worse an operator by not imitating and rather modifying and innovating/improving?? its a personal feeling imho..

you can see that there are many operators that are struggling with EFS, many are unable to deal with the pressures, they are resorting to choking back the wells and its taking an eternity for the well to pay back. that due the complexity of the efs. different regions will have different complexities to deal with in the efs.

imho texon have taken into serious consideration the pros and cons of many types of drilling techniques, and completions and frac designs, does that make them any better or any worse than any other operator? time will tell.

    all imho and dyor..
