"Likewise Kirkwood only has $100,000 skin in the game in HIO" only looks at what he contributed in the last capital raise. Kirkwood's initial director's interest notice disclosed an interest in 1.9 million shares which would have been acquired prior to becoming a director (therefore not known how much he paid for those).
For those doing a comparison between what the directors of HIO and MGT each contributed to the recent capital raisings, consider this.

HIO has three non executive directors. Kirkwood contributed $100,000 and the other two each contributed $75,000. Relative to their directors fees, that is approximately two years after tax directors fees. Therefore, I see that as a significant contribution from ALL members of the board.

MGT has five non executive directors. From memory, their contributions varied between $1,000 and $100,000 - therefore inconsistent support. Further, their director fees are close to double those of HIO and therefore their contributions not as significant in relative terms. Further, the higher number of directors and higher director fees is an additional cash drain on MGT.
