We will be running trials in the USA when they matter (i.e. Phase 2). There is no need to run the Phase 1 trial(s) in the USA and it costs much, much more to do so. You can spend a whole lot of money running trials in the USA and not end up with much more to show for it than spending 1/10th by running the trials here in Australia.
The other issue with running Phase 1 trials in the USA is you need an open IND to do so. This would set back the time to 1st patient being treated by around 6-9 months. I am not sure if anyone here would think that was a good idea.
