Oh, Australian engineers certainly know how to develop gas; it's been demonstrated.
But the people who wanted to develop gas reserves were prevented from doing by from the climate cult members who lobbied governments to ban it.
So it's not a case of "Australia can't"; it's a case of "Australia didn't" ... because a minority lunatic fringe in society influenced hapless politicians to not allow it.
