Looking at shortman, after the ED result, there was a small decline in outstanding shorts (relative to the 90 million shares traded on that day). The shorts actually upticked again a bit in the following days.
Looks like the shorters/brokers have delayed settlement for the MSCI exit until the ASX 200 effective date, maybe in the hope of getting the VWAP back down.
But going by today's price action, things are getting more and more difficult.
