@Sweeetsound - I should be out there raking up 'honkey nuts' - Green bin tomorrow morning 6 am - ouch! But was curious to see if I got a response on HC - so here I am
Hungarians, like any other nationality, have the good and the bad, both husbands and wives. My husband was a mix of the Old Monarchy (parents spoke 3 languages Hungarian, Slovak and German) and he was an easy-going wonderful man, but I tried after his death to check out Hungarian 'manhood' at a local club and they were a dead-loss (similar with Slavic men) - but, I am guessing 'club types' are the same everywhere.

The gentleman who courted me was a bit of a show-off - good manners and all, but was inordinately proud of his pure background and had a 'von' in his name (so did my mother-in-law, means absolutely nothing).

Sad about fathers making decisions for their kids - but at least you did get to the conservatorium.
I/we started off in Sydney - still love the place, but haven't been there for a while - need to put on my 'Siebenmeilen Stiefel'

The height of my cultural achievement this week is that I have read an ancient Irish book called 'The Valley of Squinting Windows' - a well-written book about mean people in a small Irish village, and I know a guy who was born there, he told me about it, so I duly read it. I actually enjoyed it because the writing style is unique, not boring, but most of the characters are mean - so that's a bit of a let-down.
Now I am reading a book about Game Theory, entitled 'Prisoner's Dilemma'. One principal proponent of Game Theory was a Hungarian by name of John von Neumann. It's totally fascinating, I can't put it down, in truth - strange reading for a woman, but I was never one for romance stories etc.

Now I have decided to put in an hour's piano practice instead of honkey-nutting - that was easy!
