- Elections cancelled - Borders locked for all military-age males. - People are "recruited" from the streets (packed into tinted vans ) - People trying to cross the border illegally are shot in the back - Consular services denied to men outside of the country - Control of mass media - centralized - Ukrainian Orthodox Church - banned - Russian language - technically banned (with politicians wanting to introduce "language patrols" that will discriminate against any person or a business that uses Russian language) - Those that speak out against the government are stalked, threatened, arrested, beaten up, kidnapped, tied to a tree, raped, sent to the front. Including journalists.
