Everyone understood 2 years ago that to suggest Ukraine can't fight Russia back to the '91 border makes you 'the enemy'.

couldn't quite totally follow the exact meaning of that .......but if you are suggesting it's unrealistic of myself to think Ukraine can fight russia back to 1991 borders :
1. I believe it is a possibility ....though clearly not a likleyhood ....war of attrition ...who caves ifrst ....western support deeper pockets than russia is the line of argument

2. IF ......that were not possible .....you strive for best psotion that IS possible ....implies not giving up before you have to

3. putin is not pre-disposed to bargain at this stage ....makes demands ....only optons for Ukraine are either to fight on ....or surrender to unrealstic onereous demands

4. The thing dodged here by almost all that is MOST important of all is the ASSURANCE of Ukrainain sovereignty post war ....cannot be based soley on russias signing some document ....must be assured

you know I am an idealist .....but can be a realist ......cedeing all these things putins asks for and suplying no guarantees is no suitable end to this war
when putin IS prepared to talk ....to actually negotiate and make REASONABLE offers rather than isnisting Ukraine give up ground he is unable to take ......THEN ...talk to me about peace !

At present all you advocate is Ukrainian surrender for peace and no soution to the long term securtity of Ukraine .
