2014 .............russia advanced across Ukraines borders in Crimea and with russian troops as insurgents in Donbas

2019 ..........Ukraine requested NATO membership ....but was refused

the war started due to russian aggression + annexation PRIOR to any talk of Ukraine joining NATO so your unsupported assertion is PROVED false !!!

ps.YOU are confusing cause anf effect ......russ aggression caused the NATO application......and if it had been accepted the war could not have occurred .....the war happened because Ukraine WAS NOT in NATO

pps Unprovokd military action as was used by russia defines "AGGRESSION" .....so the 2022 crossing of Ukrainian border cannot be argued as anything else but aggression
