I agree and I'm heading to the fridge to prep dinner and not worried about being worried by nothing at all.

News addiction — otherwise referred to as “headline stress disorder” — refers to the inability to stop expecting news or the compulsion need to receive new information about current events.

Individuals who are “addicted to the news” may always have their personal investment forum on high repeat click mode, their local news channel on, be constantly scrolling their social media and online news platforms, and feel a constant urge or insatiable obsession with receiving new knowledge.

This condition is also known as headline anxiety and stress disorder, and when there is no breaking news constantly flooding their individual media channels, it can make anyone feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious.

These people find the news to be highly stressful, and chronic stress is a major risk factor for depression.

What’s more, individuals with anxiety disorders, depression, or other mental health problems are more likely to experience psychological distress due to negative news.

Badly-affected viewers begin to ‘Doomscroll’ — sitting on their devices for long periods of time, expecting bad news, consuming bad news, and miraculously finding extreme volumes of bad news..

On a conscious level, we know that obsessively reading the news is bad for our mental health. But it turns out that the brain is hardwired to seek negativity. Doom scrolling makes us feel like we can control the scary things that are happening around us.

    This is very common.

I’m very concerned for 3 or 4 of the SH here during a week of no news …. so lucky that the top 300 are unconcerned and bingeing on Netflix and enjoying a peaceful life …
@ThriftyClown thanks for the video update too!

    cheers,
