Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade in Tasmania by TasWater. Whilst MABR clearly not selected, on one hand a positive it was even included in the treatment options. On the other hand, disappointing to be eliminated based on not having a 'proven track record'.
TasWater is proposing to replace the existing sewage treatment plant (STP) at Selfs Point in New Town, southern Tasmania, with a new, contemporary STP. The project will use the existing Selfs Point STP site and a parcel of adjacent land. The primary objective of the project is to amalgamate sewage treatment from the existing Macquarie Point STP and existing Selfs Point STP into a single modern plant, to enable the Macquarie Point STP to be decommissioned and enable the redevelopment of Macquarie Point. This will enable Macquarie Point to be utilised as a mixed-use zone for commercial and residential purposes, which cannot currently be achieved with the STP in place due to planning constraints.
The construction of the project is planned to commence during FY24-25 and is estimated to take approximately 18 - 24 months to complete, followed by a commissioning period. The total cost of the project is in excess of $100 million.
