Night parrots are already technically extinct and formally recorded as such. Blocking another mine isnt going to make them return from that. The latest know recording, not sighting, recording of their call was in SE QLD almost a decade ago IIRC. In an area hostile to feral cats.

A project in Newcastle where I worked had the Green / golden bell frog. The enviros made a mesh funnel to collect them and the snakes found it and ate more than they saved... It was a farce.

Green tape is pure dogma and used more often than not as an ideological weapon rather than true conservation. Same for black tape as per recent gold mine knock back.

Edit : IIRC PLS and FMG had studies into the Night Parrot and none were found and they are in production.
