May not happen on PLS given cash in bank, but often on the asx, companies that might have had short squeezes can't help empire building and will do a big capital raise for some diworsification m&a or expansion into collapsed prices ... so the squeeze never happens.
You can often tell this is coming by reading the sti and lti remuneration requirements to find m&a or size related hurdles...
