Top loaders are usually easier for maintenance as they're much simpler machines. Easier to get to a pump or a drive belt for example.
But you'll find that you struggle to get parts for a lot of them which dooms them to early obsolescence. But buy a Miele and you can still get parts for machines that are 30 years old.
