thats homeostasis. the essential mix of key variables which counter extreme departures from the normal to maintain a stability that all hominids have enjoyed and developed, evolved, for over 200,000 years.
the variables, if they weren't countered, would have had far greater effects and may have resulted in extinctions.
but such is the balance of natural cycles that those extremes were avoided and slowed which allowed hominids of the age to migrate to warmer climes as an ice age progressed or to return to the high lands as the plains turned slowly to desert.
yes its a specious argument yet one they are welded to and must use every time.
