IMO, I think it is well accepted in the market that any such major commercial discussion is always subject to potential delays. Sometime these discussions can be wrapped up quickly, other times they can go on forever over the smallest of details. Companies can't really say much given all the details will be commercial in confidence. I doubt STX or any other company in similar position will issue an announcement one day after their rough timeline to state that FID has been delayed. Macca is simply behaving like a spoilt brat who lost an argument.
