This is just a generalisation and not specific to RAC, but if former insiders choose to sell in a manner that is against their own personal financial interest you might suspect that their selling is motivated by something other than their opinion about the prospects of the company. People running companies are just as prone to human emotion as anyone else and you don't have to look too far to find many examples of poor decision making in management driven by emotion.
Being on the opposite side of a trade of an emotional buyer or seller is one of the easier ways to achieve outsized returns.
