Really? Have you read the book "Flash Boys"?

Below are the last hour's trades today. Look at the number of trades worth less that $10. Total number of trades today up to now is 160. Say a quarter are the small ones. If they are all done by the same guy he would be lucky to accumulate $500. Hardly worth while paying fees for a professional set up just to invest a few pennies.
If you are doing it for yourself, and you are genuinely accumulating then I expect your trades would be bigger.
So who and why these small trades? Read the book.
