buddy I think the theory is that you own 3 houses but the value of those 3 houses is not accurately reflected in the SP. Let's say house #3 reflects a value in the SP of $0.60 but you know it's worth $1. So you put the house on the market to relise the $1.
That $1 goes to the company's bank accoun t and you assets now reflect that $1 rather than the $0.60. The SP should increase to reflect that value. Of course what they do with that $1 to generate more value in the future is just as important in realising LT value for the company. As you say they should return the extra $0.40 to the shareholders if the real purpose of the sale is to maximise shareholder value immediately.
On another note, some people might be forgetting that we are actually now producing an income from the Bakken oil asset, which should funds some of the company's future activities. Oil price has increased by $10 in recent weeks so we should get even more revenue. If they can optimises the production per well and also bring down the per well cost as per their recent presentation, together with a good increase in reserves that will be a good thing. I think the plan is sound, what has frustrated shareholders is the pace at which it is being executed. I still think that people with patience and coming into MPO with a long-term view will benefit in the long run. In my opinion, the current SP is a big opportunity for anyone with a contrarian strategy. All this is my personal view and in no way a recommendation to invest so DYOR
