BORDER authorities have intercepted two boats carrying more than 100 people near the Ashmore Islands. Members of the Border Protection Command from ACV Triton intercepted a suspected irregular entry vessel yesterday morning.
They say initial indications suggest 62 passengers and three crew members are on board.
Border control officials from HMAS Childers boarded a vessel late on Thursday night.
On board are about 40 suspected asylum seekers and four crew members.
Both groups are being transferred to Christmas Island for security, identity and health checks.
