Because the PPY patent is the first in the area, basically anything that slices a sheet from banana stem material is covered by the PPY patent. This PupPY is not dead yet, but is in a critical condition. It needs money for sure. The board said so at the meeting. I think with a 'real' plan of action and a rights issue, it would still have a fighting chance. Unfortuately, because the board owns so many shares, I don't think this possibility will get a run. They didn't even excercise all their options last time. The way PPY is spending money it won't be long before we find out either way.
