New Zealand navy ship runs aground and sinks off Samoa, all crew onboard rescued 6Oct24

Surely the ship was equipped with state-of-the-art high tech echo sounding gear to constantly tell the bridge how much water they had under them - ditto satellite mapping - and assuming a "hikers hand held GPS" costing max a coupla hundred $'s could locate Manawanui to a few 10's of metres.
I am assuming too they would use a launch or a drone to make soundings in shallows while Manawanui stood off in deeper water.
Has anybody any idea of what must have failed to allow this disaster.
