This is good, value-adding news for PNR for the next 12 months. it derisks the downside of a collapse in the gold price. It only becomes bad news when the Australian gold price exceeds $4400, and only then it is only slightly bad news.
Hedging the diesel price is good, too, as long as the diesel price does not collapse…
at least the market knows PNR is protected from nasty commodity and fuel cost shocks for the next 12 months.
This insurance strategy provides PNR with an attractive point of difference from other producers
