GAS as a baseload power source is not an economic option for ALCOA.CEO for alcoa,.........
Alan Cransberg has publicly stated this and the Smelter would shut down and move ,if power operators utilized gas as the primary source of energy.
2016 end of government subsidies for Alcoa.

Liberal gov will not risk closure of industry.Neither will LYP put their 20 contract to Alcoa in jeopardy due to large increase in power costs FROM SHIFT TO GAS GENERATION,
    and meeting carbon reduction conditions.

Contract between LYP and Alcoa was finalized before the introduction of the Climate Change Policy 2010.
Act has been passed and waiting for specifics on how it is going to be implemented. No maybe, has to be implemented.
    COLDRY $6 VS GAS $36.

IF this act was not passed and it was business as usual regarding lignite use then agree coldry has nothing to do with prospect of Alcoa /Coldry /LYP relationship.
WHAT economic alternative is available in the short term??
Coldry Shandy CAN BE EMPLOYED IN EXISTING BOILERS.

Victorian liberal party has agreed to the climate change policy, and many of the conditions present in the policy have been acknowledged in there own review.

Totally different playing field for gov and industry to work within and achieve reduction of carbon emissions.
EPA powers are increasing not only in Victoria but also in major world lignite power operators.

Advice from the Dept of Infrastructure for Energy endorses a broad approach to secure affordable energy including dry ed coal technology.
Liberals talk of transparency ,well now that the greens have no say in upper and lower house , looking forward to Coldry endorsement by Ted Baillieu AND GREATER TRANSPERANCY

Tincom have secured an absolute bargain, coldry pellets at at between 50% to 60% reduced price to black coal.
The $100 per ton that you referred to includes capex costs, but ECT are not putting up the capital, and costs have come down. At 20 million tons export coldry at $50 per ton Tincom will get a return on their investments,
That does not include potential local use and coldry plants in Indonesia under the license agreement.
