    true acorn. nuclear cannot compete in terms of infrastructure. renewable energy installation and production are cheaper. no question.

    but neither is coal any less expensive.

    but with our energy needs set to double by 2050 at latest, and others estimate 2035, we need to replace coal generator now. not later.

    the longer they leave this matter the more costly it will be and the more likely to develop problems associated with haste.

    I get that you disagree. you're right to pose different approaches to this key problem the nation faces.

    but like coal energy 100 years ago, the nation needs to build and own and run these generators. the cost of building will need to be borne by the taxpayers as businesses cannot run nuclear at a profit, neither could coal be run without significant subsidies.

    its a necessity. renewable will not be able to adequately provide our nations energy needs. too unreliable, too limited. and we've also seen how pumped hydro can cost too. its no cheaper than nuclear.
