Yer, Solar panels at the moment with all the rebates.
For Fuel Cells to be a viable alternative the Solar rebates have to be removed or rebates added for fuel cells. Also Fuel cells have to be include for feed in tariffs.
The big reason is that it is the feed in tariff that really pays for the system. A solar panel will, on average, feed in 1/3 of production. It is that 1/3 that pays the system off in a reasonable time, without it it is close to being not worth the initial investment.
A fuel cell system will, I think, have a greater then 1/3 feed in due to a more consistent running of the system. So the system should pay itself of quicker, although I don't know how much the gas costs will offset the feed in tariff.
