purina cat food, page-3

How timely that you bring this up Fluffy!

I thought my 2 five year old cats were doing very nicely on Purina dried food till last week when I nearly lost one. Suffice to say his problem was a bladder about to burst due to a blocked you know what caused by a build up of crystals.

Now, my cats have large bowls of water all over the garden, plus bird baths, so lack of water wasn't the problem.

Anyway, 3 days in hospital on life support (and a big bill) have left me cautious.

He likes Roo meat too, but apparently everything's out of bounds for him other than the Hills dietary S/P blend that dissolves crystals.

It's a bit awkward as the other cat and my dog all share each other's food. They are losing weight this week!

In fact, in the weeks leading up to this drama, they'd all been happily feeding on Purina dried dog food (forget which flavour)

What I'd like to know is, would the dog mix be more of a problem than the cat version? If so, perhaps I don't need to be quite so vigilant in the future? I'd love to hear more about this.
