Like you I didnt know this stock existed until, a while back, a mate of mine who works at a boutique investment bank told me that someone in WA (LEG) bought 2 tenement landholdings bigger than SDL's.
With just that in mind, I ignored him, to my peril, and only with the recent run in SDL did that make me re-think twice about the power of publicity and how it (or lack thereof) can really shroud shareholder value.

As an blatant illustration close to home:
SDL haven't made any significant announcements lately since the last MOU on 14/9/10 and its doubled in price. For the benefit of the doubt, I give Mr Market a lead-up time of 1 week to actually read and digest the announcements. So the price of SDL at 21/9/10 was 23 cents - it is now 45 cents. It is already up 100% with not even 1 serious announcement since. The CITIC and MD announcements on 5/11 and 8/10 respectively did not result in any notable price movement.

If that is not proof of the power of publicity (or its price suppressing ability when lack thereof) I don't know what is.

Mr Market is not a good value detector. I'm just happy, like you, I know this stock exists before the mainstream do. And when they do know (perhaps through better resource definition or spectacular DSO results..or even that they have a land holding more than twice as big!) they will want to pay to have a piece of the pie.

Thanks Towie, Ellakaur and everyone else for the thumbs..its the thumbs that make people wanna research and contribute something instead of just feeling like your pushing your time (and own private personal research) down a black hole.

Good luck all...keep your eye on the value, and you will know (as im sure my fellow SDL fans do) that when the Big Boys start getting serious they will want to accumulate, and with accumulation will come games like bear trapping
