Not really so makattack.
Indonesian Timor is just as close to mainland Australia as Xmas Island is to Jakarta. So why not set off from Timor and land in Aus directly?
And if you want really close then PNG is only a stones throw away across the Torres strait with inhabited Australian Islands as little as 50km from the PNG coast.
Queensland extends almost to PNG. Papua is Indonesian.
