howard will only go down as one of the best in the highly creative imaginations of the man and his supporters who are completely blind to the damage that those dreadful 11 years have done to this once happy and now badly divided nation.
the reason that the current government is struggling is because there is so much to repair that the task is overwhelming. it is to the credit of the electorate that they understood the problem, saw that the ALP on its own could not deal with the disaster and elected a wide range of views to attempt to fix it. this will take time and the real positive impact will not occur until 2011-2012
historians will view the howard years as wasted opportunities (education, training, infrastructure), waste (selling gold), excessive spending (military), lies (war) and deliberate divisiveness (anti immigration/refugees pandering to the bogan vote). all this during a time when the global economy should have benefited australia to suge an extent that the income should have been spent on building up the economy, not buying votes and paying back supporters to win elections
