As per the TotalEnergi release, Tambotti-1X is solely a Cenomanian exploration/appraisal well following up on the Cenomanian oil discovery at Mangetti-1X.
Azule (BP/ENI) are drilling a 'Mopane look-alike', on trend to the southeast in PEL 85, with the Mopane oil Discovery in PEL 83.
I am sure Chevron having visited the Galp data room for the partial sell down of GALP's Mopane Oil Field, is now aware of what to look for in the Cenomanian of PEL 90.
The Cenomanian 'Mopane oil sand' equivalent, in board of the outer high is the sweet spot target for explorers now in the offshore Orange Basin, it would logically appear.
So I would concur with Stocksluice that Chevron will be drilling an inboard play targeting the Cenomanian with logically an underlying Venus type turbidite target, should it be present.
With the current up to 8-10 well drilling program by five operators in the Offshore Orange Basin over the next 6 months,very exciting times ahead I would surmise, with the basin's 87% exploration success rate and 100% appraisal success on 3D and AVO analysis.
