Not one of the “sentiment sell/none, position not held” posters addressed any of the points I raised. Because they can’t dispute facts they know to be true. Very quiet when it comes to discussion around reviewing the code behind the algorithmic trades placed by the bots. You can’t point the finger at an algorithm and say “there is the guilty party your honour”. Once ASIC gets abolished and replaced by a regulator with teeth (Singapore’s MAS for example), the wolves in sheep’s clothing won’t be quite as bold.
Weight of money might be on their side, but if day traders get a whiff of a bargain, the short squeeze can come from nowhere and burn them at the stake (and it’s so sweet…ZIP, SZL, APX, CTT. Long holders’ investments can only fall to zero, but short positions, well the price can rise to infinity. Need I say Poseidon? Shares were trading at 80 cents in September 1969 before peaking at $280 a share in February 1970.
