re: Ann: Appendix 3E - Daily Share Buy-back N... So is the buyback for the shareholders or to prop up the price so management 'gets rich'?

I've seen lots of buybacks over the years, but IMO this one was and is being done badly.

First it was announced a long time before it was undertaken, second the sellers are for some unknown reason or reasons dumping shares into the buy queue forcing the prie down which makes absolutely no sense, and third the drip drip type buying is fooling nobody.

AZZ should put a buy order for 5,000,000 shares at a fixed price say 38.5 or 39 cents and let the sellers at it. Once that order gets filled, put another 5,000,000 share order in the buy queue and so on until the buyback is done.

Then if the share price is still in the 30's, go to the shareholders and get approval to do another 10%.

And get some information out about the rest of the assets. There can only be so much secrecy or confidential informaton when a company is a publicly held entity.

They jut can't go around keeping everything secret from shareholders!!

Hey this would make a good comedy sketch on the ABC's 7;30 report:

We have a producing asset in Texas.

    Where?

    In Texas.

    How much do we own?

    Some.

    How much?

Can't tell you its a secret.

    Why?

The company we made the agreement with won't let us.

How do we know what it is worth?

    Something.

    How much is something?

    Maybe a bunch.

    How much is a bunch?

About $2.98 a kilo at the supermarket.

I thought we were talking about oil?

    Yes, its all bananas.

    What?

    For the shareholders.

    Why?

    They're a bunch of monkeys.........
